It is a day just a little too large around the edges. Reclining on a deck chair in the sea breeze, amid the gentle rustle leaves and the murmur of the sea, there is nothing for it but to let yourself be lulled asleep.
I don't know how long I have drowsed off. When I wake, the world around me is blue: bright blue sky and sparkling blue sea. The shade has shifted. I stir eventually, as one must, and realise that my right shoulder is a little sore – scorched red by the late afternoon sun.
